CLUB RULES AND POLICIES

GUEST POLICY

Members are allowed to bring up to (3) guests at any one time. If a member does not arrive with their complete party the full name(s) of each person in their group must be given to the front desk team. This can be done onsite or prior to arrival by emailing theclub@casacipriani.com.

HOTEL GUESTS

Guests staying in the Rooms & Suites at Casa Cipriani are allowed to bring up to four (4) guests per room. This includes the occupants of the room.
Guests staying in the Verrazzano Suite, may bring up to six (6) guests including the occupants of the room.
Guests staying in the Roebling or Bartholdi Presidential Suites may bring up to eight (8) guests including the occupants of the room.

DRESS CODE

Our landmark building evokes the refined elegance of the Beaux-Arts period, so we ask that all members and guests respect the tradition of that era through appropriate attire. Members and guests who do not adhere to the below guidelines may be denied entry. This decision will be entirely at the discretion of our front desk team, and we ask that you ensure the dress code is conveyed to any guests you invite to the club.

NOT PERMITTED
  • Sports shoes or trainers that would be worn for exercise/ sport after 12:00 PM
  • Distressed or dirty shoes.
  • Hooded sweatshirts or athletic wear of any kind, including running shoes.
  • Ripped denim pants or shorts.
  • Men’s t-shirts unless under a suit jacket.
  • Flip flops and men’s sandals.
  • Men’s shorts.
  • Overly revealing attire.
  • Baseball caps and beanies.
PERMITTED
  • Jackets are strongly suggested for gentlemen in the dining rooms.
  • Plain polo shirts until 6:00 PM.
  • Jeans, in a solid color with no rips.
  • Smart, clean trainers, as part of an overall elegant attire.
  • A simple round or V-neck T-shirt can be worn with a blazer only.
  • Tailored shorts may be worn by women.
  • Elegant hats such as a fedora or beret (which should be removed in the dining rooms).
PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography and videography on Club premises is strictly forbidden in all areas. Taking photos or posting on social media is also prohibited while on premise.

AGE

All guests visiting the Club must be at least 21 years old.

CHILDREN

Children are welcome to enjoy breakfast and lunch daily from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the Club Restaurant, only. After 5:00 PM children are not permitted in any areas of the 5th floor or rooftop.

ANIMALS

Animals are not permitted on the Club’s premises unless medically required or with the explicit permission of the Proprietor. Members and/or their guests who do attend the Club with animals are always deemed to be personally liable for their conduct. Animals are not permitted on Club furniture.

LAPTOPS & HEADPHONES

Both laptops and headphones are permitted for use up to 6pm daily in the club.

BOOKING GUESTROOMS/SUITES FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY
  • The Casa Cipriani member is responsible for booking and paying for his friends and family.
  • Member must provide a Credit Card authorization form completed to cover Room and Tax.
  • The reservations team will book the rooms and suites in the name of the actual guest staying.
  • There is no limit on the number of rooms/suites a member can reserve for his friends and family.
Description
  1. The purpose of the Club is to provide facilities, hospitality, health, wellness, entertainment, food and drink to its members and their guests for the pursuit of social, non-political and recreational activity.
  2. The Club’s name is Casa Cipriani South Street New York.
Basic Principles
  1. The Club is a proprietary club being the property of 10 South Street Club Operator Inc. d/b/a Casa Cipriani (the “Proprietor”).
  2. The Club’s premises are located at 10 South Street, New York, NY 10004, United States of America.
  3. Members have no financial obligations to the Club other than as set forth in these Club Rules.
Guest Policy
  1. Members are allowed to bring up to (3) guests at any one time.

  7. The Proprietor reserves the right to refuse admission to any guest of a member in its sole discretion.
  8. Members are responsible for their own guests’ conduct and expenditure. Should a guest fail to comply with the Club’s rules while on the premises, the member shall be deemed to have committed the breach of rules themselves and could be subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of the Proprietor.
  9. Members must be present at the Club at the same time as their guest(s) and are not permitted to leave their guest(s) at the Club upon their departure.
  10. Persons under the age of 21 are not permitted in the Club, except during Brunch Hours on the weekend while accompanied by a member in designated areas.
  11. There is no smoking permitted in the Club except in designated outdoor areas.
  12. Members may be allowed to hold private events at the Club with the permission of the Proprietor.
  13. Members and their guests (for whom they are responsible) shall conduct themselves in an appropriate manner while on Club premises and refrain from any activity that might cause embarrassment or offense to any member, guest or employee of the Club.
  14. Members and their guests (for whom they are responsible) shall not bring the reputation of the Club or any of its members into disrepute.
  15. Members and their guests (for whom they are responsible) shall not do anything at any time that places the Club’s licenses and permits at risk.
  16. The decision as to whether any of the Club’s rules have been breached is solely at the discretion and opinion of the Proprietor.
  17. The Proprietor retains the right to discipline or sanction any member or guest at its discretion without the requirement for explanation or justification.

  • Flip flops and casual sandals.
  • Overly revealing attire.
  • Men’s shorts after 12:00 PM.

PERMITTED

  • Jeans, in a solid color with no rips.
  • Smart, clean trainers bearing 1-2 neutral colors, as part of an overall smart attire.
  • Elegant hats such as a fedora or beret (which should be removed in the dining rooms).
  • Jackets are strongly suggested for gentlemen in the dining rooms.
  • A simple round or V-neck T-shirt can be worn with a blazer only.
  • Tailored shorts may be worn by women.

 

General Conduct and Standards of Behavior
  1. Members and their guests shall always conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner towards all persons present at the Club, including, without limitation, the Club’s staff, management, and other members and their guests.
  2. Photography on Club premises is strictly forbidden in all areas. Taking photos or posting on social media is also prohibited while on premise.
  3. Filming and/or recording of any sort on Club premises is strictly forbidden in all areas.
  4. Members and their guests are requested to have their phones on silent mode and refrain from speaking on mobile phones, using portable computers or other electronic devices after 6pm.Texting is permitted, and calls may be made in designated areas within the Club. Member guests must adhere to our phone policy.
  5. Members of the Club and their guests shall not make any mention of or comment on the Club, its members, their guests or any of the activities that take place in the Club’s premises to the press or any media organization.
  6. Members and their guests need to adhere to the Club’s dress code
  7. Members are strictly forbidden from using the Club’s address for receiving any form of personal correspondence or represent the Club’s address as their personal residence or official place of business.
Committee
  1. The Proprietor may, in its sole discretion, establish an admissions advisory committee (the “Committee”) for the purpose of reviewing applications for membership and making recommendations regarding the same.
  2. The committee shall consist of the directors of the Proprietor and such other persons as may be appointed by the Proprietor, in its sole discretion, from time to time. The Proprietor shall be entitled to remove persons from the committee at any time, in its sole discretion.
  3. There is no requirement for the Committee to meet in person.
  4. Neither the Club nor the Proprietor are under any requirement to disclose who the members of the Committee are at any time.
Control and Management
  1. The Club is managed by the Proprietor, which has the power to delegate responsibilities and tasks to its employees, affiliates and consultants in its sole discretion.
  2. Applications for membership may be approved or rejected by the Proprietor in its sole discretion.
  3. Membership may be cancelled, denied or rejected by the Proprietor in its sole discretion for whatever reason it deems appropriate. Any such determination by the Proprietor shall be final and without the recourse of appeal on the part of any member or applicant for membership.
Fees
  1. Initiation fee: new members shall pay an initiation fee if applicable and annual dues within 7 days of being notified that an application for membership has been approval.
  2. A sales tax of 8.875% will be added to fees and dues.
  3. Annual dues and initiation fees are non-refundable.
  4. The initiation fee and annual dues shall be established by the Proprietor and are subject to change at the Proprietor’s sole discretion.
  5. Annual dues for any years following the first year of membership will be paid on the last day of the month 12 months after membership was approved.
  6. Members are required to pay for any goods and services provided by or in the Club premises on the same day as the charges are incurred.
  7. Failure to pay any fees due to the Club within seven days will open members to be liable for suspension and/or be forbidden to enter the Club until such time as the fees are paid.
  8. The Proprietor may, in its sole discretion, terminate the membership of any member whose fees or charges remain unpaid for more than 30 days after they are due.
Membership
  1. The Club welcomes applications from all persons over the age of 21 years.
  2. Candidates for membership must be either:
    1. Proposed and seconded by existing members of the Club and/or
    2. Appointed by the Proprietor in its discretion.
  3. Proposers and seconders must vouch for the character and suitability of candidates they put forward for membership and comply with any application requirements determined by the Proprietor.
  4. The Proprietor has the sole discretion to approve or deny any application for membership.
  5. The Proprietor may delegate such responsibility to any other person or persons, as it determines in its sole discretion.
  6. Successful applicants for membership will be informed in writing and thereafter be subject to the rules surrounding the payment of the Club’s fees.
  7. Newly accepted members will be welcome to attend the Club and make use of its facilities following payment of any membership fees and agreement to be bound by these rules.
  8. Membership is granted on an annual basis and shall automatically renew on the last day of the month in which the anniversary of joining the Club occurs unless a member is notified by the Proprietor prior to that date that their membership will not be renewed. The Proprietor is not required to give any reason for declining to renew any membership.
  9. The Proprietor may terminate the membership of any member at any time for any reason it deems appropriate in its sole discretion. By way of illustration, and without limiting the discretion of the Proprietor to terminate the membership of any member for any reason, the Proprietor shall be entitled to terminate the membership of any member due to:
    1. Allegations of criminal conduct by a member, whether such allegations have resulted in or could result in criminal charges or convictions.
    2. Credible allegations of racist, misogynistic, homophobic or other bigoted conduct or statements by a member.
    3. Any alleged or actual misconduct by guests of a member at the Club that would meet the criteria set forth in the preceding two sub-clauses:
      1. Any misrepresentation by a member to the Club in any application for membership or other conduct by a member or a guest thereof which could reasonably impair the reputation of the Club and/or its members. Should this happen, the Proprietor has no obligation to refund all or a portion of the Member’s fees.
  10. When membership is terminated by the Proprietor the member will be notified in writing by email and/or post and the former member will no longer be welcome to come to the Club either in their own right or as the guest of another member unless with the explicit permission of the Proprietor.
  11. The Proprietor also reserves the right to suspend a member’s membership of the Club for up to 90 days should there be reasonable grounds to believe that the member or their guest(s) have breached these rules, engaged in any conduct that might reasonably impair the reputation of the Club and/or its other members. While a member is suspended, they will not be permitted to attend the Club’s premises or any of its events except if expressly invited to do so in writing by the Proprietor or its representative.
  12. Any member may resign their membership at any time by giving written notice to the Proprietor, but no portion of the initiation fee and/or annual dues will be refundable.
  13. Members agree to keep the Proprietor informed promptly in writing of any change of address and/or email or telephone number needed for the day-to-day administration of their membership.
  14. Membership is non-transferrable under all and any circumstances.
Junior Membership (those joining before the occasion of their 30th birthday)
  1. Junior membership applications are open to anyone between the ages of 21 and 29 subject to the same process of being recommended by two existing members of the Club whether they themselves are junior members or not.
  2. Junior members who pass their 30th birthday will be renewed at the start of their next year’s membership subscription cycle at the full rate of a single annual member.
  3. Junior membership is not available on a couple basis but only to individuals. Applicants under the age of 30 who wish to join as joint members must do so at the full rate applicable to that class of membership.
LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP
  1. The Club may offer certain members by invitation of the Proprietor terms of inclusion that represent lifetime membership and as such will not be responsible for paying annual dues. Terms and details of lifetime membership are available in a separate document to these rules.
RULES
  1. Members agree to abide by and comply with the rules of the Club, and any updated versions of these rules as and when the Proprietor deems them necessary to be updated or amended.
  2. The Proprietor will use reasonable efforts to inform members of any changes to these rules in writing to the address given by members for correspondence. It is members’ responsibility to be aware of these rules at all times regardless.
  3. By submitting an application to join the Club, members and applicants agree to be bound by these rules.
  4. Members and applicants agree to have their personal information held by the Club and the Proprietor.
Use of Club Facilities
  1. Members shall be entitled to use the Club’s facilities and premises within the Club’s stated opening hours and under the terms of all and any licenses granted to the Club by local and or State or Federal authorities.
  2. The right to use and attend dining and bar areas of the Club is subject to availability as determined by the Proprietor in its sole discretion.
  3. The usual hours of operation of the Club shall be determined by the Proprietor, in its sole discretion, and set forth on the website of the Club.
  4. The Club reserves the right to and will refuse admission to and/or eject any member or their guest who appears to be intoxicated upon entering or when using the Club’s facilities.
  5. All items of property brought into the Club that are left there are entirely at the risk of the member and/or their guest(s). Proprietor will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the personal property of members.
Gambling
  1. Gambling of any sort is not permitted on the Club’s premises.
Staff
  1. No member or their guest has the right to give instructions to any employee of the Club that relates to their employment or duties as a member of staff.
  2.  No member or their guest shall solicit, induce or incentivize a member of the Club’s staff to assist with reservations or access for non-members that goes beyond our guest policy.
  3. No member or their guest shall solicit, induce or incentivize a member of the Club’s staff to leave the Club’s employ.
  4. Gratuities and tips paid to the Club’s staff are entirely at the discretion of members and their guest(s). No other gifts shall be offered or given by members or their guests without the explicit consent of the Proprietor.
  5. No member of the Club nor their guest(s) is permitted to solicit or employ Club staff for personal or business-related purposes.
Liability
  1. Except in the instance of negligence on the part of the Proprietor, the Proprietor’s liability for injuries or damages suffered on the premises of or in connection with the operation of the Club shall be limited to no more than the sum of the annual subscription paid by the member.
  2. The Club reserves the right to charge cancellation fees, as determined by the Proprietor in its sole discretion, for members who fail to cancel and/or attend any prior reservations made.
Disputes and Differences
  1. Any dispute or difference of opinion as to the meaning, interpretation or application of these rules shall be determined by the Proprietor whose decision is absolute, final and binding on all members of the Club and their guests.
Other Matters
  1. Members and their guests will be bound by the Club’s dress code as detailed on the Club’s website and other informational materials. The Proprietor reserves the right to deny entry to any member or guest who fails to comply with the Dress Code.
  2. The Club’s Spa and Fitness facilities are subject to their own set of specific rules detailed in a separate document that shall be made available to members upon request at any time.
  3. Members and their guests are asked to refrain from bringing in food and beverages from outside the Club unless medically required to do so.
  4. The Proprietor will from time to time require members to have restricted access to some or all the Club’s premises for maintenance purposes and/or private hire of the facilities without members having recourse to compensation of this temporary restriction of access.
  5. Members are requested to refrain from referring to the private activities of other members of the Club or their guests by any medium public or private.
  6. Members and their guests are asked to respect nearby residents of the Club when entering or exiting the premises.
  7. Animals are not permitted on the Club’s premises unless medically required or with the explicit permission of the Proprietor. Members and/or their guests who do attend the Club with animals are always deemed to be personally liable for their conduct.
  8. For the avoidance of doubt, members shall have no proprietary rights in the premises and/or the property of the Club, including, without limitation, the intellectual property and other intangible property of the Club.
  9. Members and their guests shall not use the names, logos, colors, trademarks, service marks, photographs, trade dress, or other identifying features of the Club without obtaining the specific prior written approval of the Proprietor as to the specific use.
